Exciting position to lead the Council’s Volunteer Management Framework for the Moonee Valley municipality in partnership with Volunteer West

Moonee Valley City Council and Volunteer West are pleased to announce a partnership approach to uplifting the profile and practice of volunteering as community building for social and economic wellbeing within the municipality of Moonee Valley. Identifying that we are both working towards common goals, we have taken this partnership approach as we believe we are able to achieve better community outcomes through working together.
As part of this co-designed approach to engaging the community in building community resilience through volunteering experiences, we are excited to announce an opportunity to join us in this endeavour in the position of Volunteer Development Officer.

About the role
Reporting to the Manager of People and Culture (Council) and Program Manager (Volunteer West), this role will lead Moonee Valley City Council’s Volunteer Management Framework, working across Moonee Valley City Council and Volunteer West.
The role will be responsible for, but not limited to:
Ensure alignment of Council/Volunteer West volunteer initiatives with community values and priorities.
Support volunteers to participate safely and effectively in programs offered as part of the Council/Volunteer West partnership.
Facilitate a centralised approach and consistent implementation of volunteer management practices.
Manage the recruitment of volunteers on a regular basis, including the provision of orientation, training, ongoing supervision and support.
Match trained volunteers to appropriate Council initiatives.
Develop and maintain networks which enable volunteering connections throughout the municipality.
Promotion of volunteering opportunities which the whole community can become involved in.
Undertake responsibility for creating volunteering opportunities throughout Council delivered programs.
Ensure programs and activities operate in accordance to the agreed budget parameters.
About you
You will have a high level of initiative and independence, establishing your own work priorities and work with limited direction, within tight timeframes.
You have strong oral and written communication skills, including problem-solving abilities and excellent attention to detail.
The successful candidate will also have:
A tertiary qualification in Business Administration with some experience or a lesser/unrelated qualification with substantial relevant experience.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office applications, document management systems, and human resource/volunteer management systems.
Experience of local government and/or not for profit processes and procedures such as collaboration for impact and community development would be well regarded.
Experience in undertaking research and or change management projects.
